News Flash: Feb H.T. Music and Art Puppet Madness

We are having a great week!
Across the half-term holiday we expect to have around 40 visitors, who are coming to try-out playing musical instruments in a band (some for the first time).

We built our own 'Mozo Island Beach Club Stage' and made up short stories and performances with Mozo character finger puppets in 5 mins. The results were very good and very funny!

February 2012 Music and Art Holiday event

Yes, it will soon be Half-Term school holidays, and what could be nicer than packing off the little-ones to the 'always sunny' Mozo Island!
The course will run for a week from monday feb 13, to friday feb 17. Hosted at Hurlingham School in Putney, West London.

After School Music Club Drawings Oct 2011

  

Here are some pictures drawn by the children from the After School Music Club.

They are mainly children from the year 1 classes, with a couple of years 2s as well.

Please refer to the earlier post about Pitch- High and Low sounds.

They looked at the page in the Music School section of the website. It has pictures of a bird singing and a large boat blowing a horn.

 

In some pictures there are drawings of something that makes a high sound (not to be confused with loud!) and something that makes a low sound.

 

In other pictures they wanted to draw the instruments that we used, such as recorders and drums.

Music and Art course Oct 2011

Here is a report about the course we ran during half-term holiday.

The course ran for 5 days at the end of October.

The children watched the characters perform on the website:

They had to draw themselves performing on the stage at the beach club, and then stick their pictures with some of the Mozo Island characters on a large backdrop that they had coloured in with various pens and crayons. 

The friends and parents enjoyed spotting their children on the picture at the end of the concert.

They first learned to play some easy chords and bass notes on the guitar and keyboard. After we looked at the ‘Blues’ we then found some pop songs that everyone could play and sing along to. Some children had made great progress through the week, and they wanted to try the electric guitar.

Some of the children made greetings cards with a musical message from some of the Mozo Island characters.

Here are some short videos. One was taken during rehearsals of Price Tag by Jessie J., and the other was while the children were working on their Greetings cards.

Music and Art course starts tomorrow....

The Music Fountain Education team are getting them selves warmed up for an exciting week in putney.
Children will be coming to play-a-long with our Mozo Island friends Jack Apple and Warren Banana.


Loads of fun stuff planned and a few really great songs that the kids will be singing for weeks to come...
